DREX at KSMO

Over the weekend of June 23 and 24, Squadron 51 hosted a Disaster Relief Exercise at Santa Monica Airport. The training exercise base was located at the new Proteus Air Services flight school, with almost 30 seniors and cadets training for various tasks such as Mission Scanner, Mission Observer, Airborne Photography, Urban Direction Finding, Mission Staff Assistant, and Radio Operator. Although we had some weather challenges with the marine layer in Santa Monica, the skies cleared for us in the afternoon and we were able to practice several tasks.
